No prior application or preparation is required.

Executive summary
Recognition is independently assessed and complimentary. Additional services exist only to help organisations understand or communicate a recognition they have already earned — they never influence assessment, scoring or recognition status.
Always complimentary
Organisations enter consideration in one of three ways: they are independently identified by our research team, referred by stakeholders, experts or partners, or they register an expression of interest. There is no application form, no fee and no preparation requirement — and entering the pool never guarantees assessment or recognition.
Read moreAssessment is based only on publicly available communication — websites, careers pages, campaigns, social channels and public statements. We do not request internal documents, interviews or self-reported data, so no organisation can improve its score by submitting material or by purchasing anything.
Read morePublic evidence is scored across defined language areas using a consistent methodology, and every result near a recognition threshold is reviewed a second time before it is confirmed. Scores are produced by the research process alone; commercial relationships play no part in them.
Read moreOrganisations that meet the threshold are recognised and published at no cost, together with their recognition level. Recognition, listing and the confirmation of status are complimentary and remain valid whether or not the organisation ever engages any optional service.
Read moreNo purchase is required at any stage.
Entirely optional
An optional report that explains an already-completed assessment in depth: area-by-area findings, observed strengths, gaps and practical improvement guidance. It is purchased after recognition is decided and cannot change a score, a level or a recognition outcome.
Read moreA licence that lets a recognised organisation display the recognition badge in its own communications, with usage rules protecting accuracy. The licence covers the right to communicate recognition — never the recognition itself, which is already granted at no cost.
Read moreAssessment and commercial activity are deliberately separated: scoring is completed before any service conversation, service decisions are never visible to the assessment process, and declining or cancelling a service has no effect on status. Recognition can never be bought, upgraded or accelerated.
Read moreDirect answers to the questions organisations most often ask — whether recognition can be purchased, what happens if a service is declined, why assessment is outside-in, and how the model differs from certification. Nothing about the model depends on a commercial relationship.
Read moreDeclining these services changes nothing about recognition.
Organisations are recognised solely on the basis of the Inclusive Brand Language assessment methodology and the evidence identified during the evaluation.
Purchasing a report, licensing a recognition badge, requesting further analysis, participating in consultancy or engaging Workplace in Action® for another service does not improve an organisation’s score, influence its selection or provide preferential access to recognition.
Recognition decisions and commercial services are intentionally separated.
Selection cannot be purchased.
Scores cannot be purchased or upgraded.
Recognition status is independent of commercial engagement.
Inclusive Brand Language does not operate as a traditional pay-to-enter recognition programme. Organisations may enter the consideration pool through several routes.
Our research team may identify organisations whose publicly visible communications, market presence or stakeholder experience make them relevant for assessment.
No prior application or preparation is required.
Organisations may be brought to our attention through stakeholder, expert, partner or community referrals.
A referral is simply a route into consideration. It does not guarantee assessment or recognition.
An organisation may register its interest in being considered for a future assessment cycle.
An expression of interest does not constitute an application for recognition and does not guarantee assessment, scoring or inclusion.
There is no fee to be considered for recognition.
Consideration does not guarantee recognition. Recognition depends solely on the assessment outcome and applicable recognition threshold.
Inclusive Brand Language is designed as an outside-in recognition model rather than a submission-led programme.
Organisations are not required to prepare evidence packs, complete extensive questionnaires or purchase an assessment package before the initial review.
The starting point is what customers, candidates, employees, communities and other stakeholders can already see.
This approach allows the assessment to consider the organisation from the same external perspective experienced by its stakeholders.
We assess what is visible — not what has been prepared specifically for an assessment.
Inclusive Brand Language examines how inclusion is communicated and experienced through publicly visible organisational touchpoints. The initial assessment may include publicly available evidence across areas such as:
Respectful & Inclusive Language
Equal Opportunity Communication
Inclusion Breadth
Disability & Accessibility Language
Candidate & Employer Brand Language
Digital Accessibility
Social Impact Communication
Evidence & Authenticity
Relevant evidence may be identified across corporate websites, career pages, public reports, policies made publicly available, social channels, employer-brand communications, recruitment content, digital experiences and other relevant public touchpoints.
The exact evidence reviewed may vary depending on the organisation, industry and available public information.
Inclusive Brand Language Recognition is an outside-in assessment and should not be interpreted as a comprehensive audit of every internal organisational practice.
The organisation enters the consideration pool through independent identification, referral or expression of interest.
Publicly visible evidence is reviewed against the Inclusive Brand Language methodology.
Evidence is evaluated consistently against defined assessment criteria.
Only organisations meeting the required threshold qualify for recognition.
Qualifying organisations may be included in the relevant Inclusive Brand Language Recognition publication, editorial release or recognition cycle.
Recognition inclusion is complimentary.
No listing, entry or publication fee is required for an organisation that qualifies for recognition.
Organisations that qualify may receive, where applicable:
An organisation remains recognised regardless of whether it chooses to use any optional commercial service.
Some organisations may want to understand their assessment in greater depth or communicate their recognition using official licensed assets.
For this reason, separate optional services are available.
These services are not part of the recognition decision.
Understand Your Recognition
The Detailed Assessment Report is an optional analytical service for organisations that want greater visibility into the assessment behind their recognition. It may include:
Requesting or purchasing the report does not alter the organisation’s score or recognition status.
Explore the Detailed ReportCommunicate Your Recognition
Recognised organisations may optionally license the official recognition badge for approved corporate communication. The licence may provide:
The badge does not create recognition. It communicates recognition that has already been independently achieved.
Explore Badge LicensingIndependent assessment determines whether the organisation qualifies.
A recognised organisation may optionally request deeper analysis of its result.
A recognised organisation may optionally license the official badge for approved use.
Recognition → Understand → Communicate
Recognition always comes first.
The credibility of a recognition programme depends on maintaining a clear separation between assessment outcomes and commercial relationships.
Inclusive Brand Language therefore applies the following principles.
Organisations are not required to purchase a service in order to be considered or recognised.
Assessment scores cannot be increased through payment, sponsorship, badge licensing, consultancy or other commercial engagement.
Recognised organisations are not required to license the official badge in order to retain their recognition.
Purchasing a Detailed Assessment Report is not required for recognition, publication or continued recognition status.
Recognition cannot be bought, upgraded or retained through commercial payment.
An organisation may decide to work with Workplace in Action®, request further analysis, participate in another programme or license recognition assets.
These relationships remain separate from the Inclusive Brand Language recognition decision.
Commercial relationships must not retrospectively change the evidence, assessment result or recognition threshold applied to the organisation.
Inclusive Brand Language Recognition evaluates publicly visible evidence from an outside-in perspective.
Workplace in Action® programmes and certifications examine organisational practices from an inside-out perspective.

Yes. An organisation may register an expression of interest for a future assessment cycle. This does not guarantee assessment or recognition.
Where appropriate, an organisation may clarify materially inaccurate public information or provide evidence concerning a factual issue identified during the assessment. Any review should be conducted consistently under the same methodology and should not provide preferential treatment.
No. Inclusive Brand Language is primarily an outside-in assessment of publicly visible evidence. Recognition should not be interpreted as verification of every internal policy, practice or employee experience.
Optional services are communicated separately to organisations interested in accessing them. Commercial terms have no influence on recognition status or assessment outcomes.
Recognition has value only when organisations and stakeholders can trust the process behind it.
Inclusive Brand Language therefore maintains a deliberate distinction between consideration, assessment, recognition, reporting, badge licensing, consulting and certification.
The objective is to identify and encourage stronger inclusive communication and stakeholder experience while preserving the independence and credibility of the assessment process.
Assessment criteria, recognition thresholds and applicable principles should be applied consistently across organisations.
